Larry Fink
Memorial Park
Some may remember Larry Fink Park once known as Deer Creek Park and even before that South Skokie Park. The Park was first acquired in 1963. In 1980 the Park was dedicated as Larry Fink Memorial Park in memory of Larry Fink, who died in an airplane crash in May 1979. At that time, through a generous donation from the Fink family and support from a federal grant, the Park District leveraged these funds to complete a major renovation to the park. Fink Park was chosen as one of the eight outstanding parks in the Midwest by the Great Lakes Parks Training Institute in 1982.
Deer Creek Racquet Club is located at the northern end of Fink Park. The tennis center opened in 1976 with six tennis courts and four racquetball courts.
