School Day Off and Break Director

As the STREAM (Science, Teamwork, Recreation, Epicurious, Art, and More) Director, you will oversee the administration and onsite supervision of our engaging STREAM Explorers School Day Off programs, Winter Break Camp, and Spring Break Camp. Summary: Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the STREAM (Science, Teamwork, Recreation, Epicurious, Art and More) Explorers School Day Off and Break Director (STREAM Director) is responsible for the administration and onsite supervision of STREAM Explorers School Day Off, Winter Break Camp and Spring Break Camp.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite supervision of and lead specific STREAM programs as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor.
  • Work with supervisor, staff and contractors in coordinating, preparing, and leading programs throughout the day/break.
  • Confirm classroom space, fields or gyms are safe and free of hazards prior to the start of class. 
  • Lead setup prior to the start of the program and clean up after programs are finished.
  • Ensure instructor/contractor arrives and is prepared to instruct class.  
  • Greet all students and parents courteously, attend to their needs and provide them with appropriate direction and information. 
  • Record and process attendance sheets, emergency forms, and medical forms.
  • Distribute medication to the specific participants who have signed the waiver. 
  • Recommend supplies and equipment needed and used in areas of responsibility.
  • Return all phone calls from parents, communicate and document any conversations with parents regarding behavior management. 
  • Check first aid supplies and bring additional supplies as needed.
  • Ensure accident reports are filled out completely and properly.
  • Ensure participants, parents and staff are following Park District policies and procedures.
  • Know and follow emergency action procedures. Assist other personnel in emergency situations.
  • Have a clear understanding of and act in accordance with Park District of Highland Park policies and procedures.
  • Communicate all feedback and other relative information to the Recreation Supervisor.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as assigned.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the Park district staff. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $20.00 – $24.00 Hourly

Location: West Ridge Center – Highland Park, IL

Status: Part Time
