To accommodate crews working on the Senior Center, from Thurs., Aug 1 through Sat., Aug 3 the Recreation Center elevator will be out of service. On Thurs., Aug 1, from 8am to noon, the Recreation Center locker rooms will be closed and the entrance to the Center will be limited to the southeast side, next to the lobby and the emergency exit.  Also, on Thurs., Aug 1, from noon to 5pm, the Recreation Center’s pool and locker rooms will be closed and the hot water will be shut off. Lifeguards

The Lifeguard is responsible for performing a variety of duties to safely oversee activities at aquatic and lakefront facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Guard the pool or waterfront, maintaining appropriate zone coverage and adequate scanning.
  • Enforce facility rules in order to prevent aquatic emergencies.
  • Effectively participate in regular training and in-service sessions, demonstrating proper knowledge and mastery of lifeguard skills.
  • Conduct or assist in swim testing procedures.
  • Perform daily opening and closing tasks and checklists.
  • Cleaning and organizing pool deck and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean facility and swimming area.
  • Perform rescues, and work as part of the rescue team in case of aquatic emergencies.
  • Initiate and follow emergency procedures as outlined in the facility Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
  • Perform first aid and fill out appropriate paperwork.
  • Place and remove lane lines or swim area demarcations.
  • Conduct and properly document pool readings.
  • Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Districts safety program.
  • Assist in set up and organization of the pool or beach office, and first aid locations.
  • Field and answer patron questions to the best of their ability. Operate point-of-sale and check-in software when appropriate.
  • Greet patrons and provide professional and positive customer service.

Salary Range

  • $16-18.50 per hour
